UPDATE: Woman shot in front of Arden Arcade apartment complex

A woman was shot in front of an Arden Arcade apartment complex Thursday afternoon. Sacramento County sheriff’s officials say she may have been caught in crossfire.

The shooting was reported at 4:53 p.m. in front of apartments at 1860 Ethan Way, near Arden Fair mall. The victim, a woman in her 20s, was shot while walking with a man, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. A sheriff’s spokeswoman said the victim is expected to survive.

Sheriff’s officials said the woman may have been caught in a crossfire between people in a sport-utility vehicle and a group of people in the apartment complex parking lot.

Sheriff’s deputies, including gang detectives who were working in the area, responded to help.
