River Delta firefighters pull driver from SUV overturned in ditch after crash
A driver was pulled from their SUV after being pinned in a crash that flipped the vehicle into a ditch near Isleton on Saturday evening.
In a news release, the River Delta Fire District said the SUV crashed off Highway 12 east of Jackson Slough Road, landing upside-down in a watery ditch.
Firefighters responded to the traffic accident around 5 p.m. to find the driver needing extrication and the vehicle badly damaged.
A medical helicopter was called in to transport the victim, who suffered major injuries, but had to be canceled due to poor weather conditions.
Once pulled from the SUV, the victim was taken via ambulance to a hospital trauma center for medical attention.
Firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers remained on scene to investigate the crash and manage traffic.
