Placer County motorcyclist killed in head-on crash with Sacramento driver, CHP says
A Foresthill man driving a motorcycle on Foresthill Road was killed Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision with a sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded around 3:30 p.m.to Foresthill Road east of Drivers Flat Road in Placer County, where they determined a Hyundai Sonata had veered into oncoming traffic and struck a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the CHP’s Auburn area office said in a news release.
The motorcycle rider, age 45, died at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai, a 47-year-old Sacramento man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, the CHP said.
Investigators said the Hyundai was traveling on westbound Foresthill Road when its driver crossed over double-yellow lines into the eastbound lane, hitting the motorcycle head on, according to the CHP collision report.
No arrests have been made and the crash remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors, the CHP said.
The victim’s identification will be released by the coroner pending notification of family.
