Sabrina Rodriguez, former Fox40 anchor accused in theft case, issues statement

Sabrina Rodriguez, the Fox40 anchor who resigned Tuesday morning after being charged in a shoplifting case, has issued her first public statement about the case since it came to light late last week.

“As of today I have severed my ties with Nick Gray,” the 31-year-old Rodriguez wrote in a statement to The Sacramento Bee. “I am now focusing on life decisions as I move forward with the support of family, friends, viewers and the community.”

Rodriguez is accused of assisting Gray, her 30-year-old fiance, in a shoplifting incident in March 2013 at the Folsom Outlets.

Gray remains in the Sacramento County Jail on unrelated charges of manufacturing hash oil and causing a fire that destroyed their home May 6.
