CHP officer suffers head injury in Highway 49 motorcycle crash

A former sergeant with the Placerville office of the California Highway Patrol suffered a major head injury in a motorcycle crash on Saturday.
Rick Marshall was riding his Harley-Davidson Road Glide southbound on Highway 49 south of Forgotten Loop, between Pilot Hill and Coloma, about 3 p.m. Saturday when he went off the right side of the roadway.
Marshall, who was recently promoted to lieutenant and was assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga area in Southern California, lost control of his motorcycle and went down, according to a CHP press release.
Marshall, who was off-duty at the time of time of the crash, was taken by medical helicopter to Sutter Roseville Hospital.
