A three-alarm blaze that began as a vegetation fire and burned into a mobile home park on Brannan Island Road late Thursday afternoon destroyed seven residences and damaged approximately six others.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center said the fire was reported about 4:15 p.m.

Kande Korth, an owner of Korth’s Pirate’s Lair Marina and the mobile park, said the fire began in a forested area behind the mobile home park and spread into the park.

Korth’s son, Joe Korth, said said the fire spread rapidly, whipped by strong winds. As of 7 p.m., he said, firefighters appeared to have the fire under control.

Kande Korth said there were 50 mobiles home in the park, occupied by year-round and part-time residents.

Crews from the River Delta Fire Protection District were assisted by about 15 other area fire agencies.

Steve Cantelme, chief of the Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services, said no one was injured in the fire. The OES reported that the displaced residents had found temporary housing with family or friends. The Red Cross was on scene to support firefighters, providing water and food.

Although the fire is out, officials said smoke in the area remained heavy and firefighters were expected to be on scene through the night.
