Trash fire blamed for smoke in downtown Sacramento
Sacramento fire officials say a trash fire was responsible for smoke spotted in downtown Sacramento about 3 p.m. Monday.
The fire, at Fifth and L streets, attracted considerable attention on social media. Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Chris Harvey said it was a small fire that produced a great deal of smoke because plastic materials were involved. He said it was handled by one engine.
The location was near the site of Golden 1 Center. Harvey said he did not know whether the debris was associated with the arena construction work.
