Pedestrian killed on Jackson Road identified

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has released the name of a man killed when he was hit by a pickup while walking on Jackson Road at night.

He was identified as Kenneth W. Norman, 53, of Sacramento.

The California Highway Patrol said that Norman was walking westbound in the center of Jackson Road, about a mile east of Bradshaw road, at about 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

The driver of a pickup headed westbound tried to avoid hitting Norman but could not, striking the pedestrian and propelling him to shoulder of the road. He died at the scene.

The pickup driver’s attempt to miss hitting Norman sent his vehicle into the eastbound lane where his truck hit a car. The car went into a ditch and the pickup rolled and struck a power pole.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital.
