Teen hit by car identified by Sacramento coroner

Sacramento County officials have identified a teenager who died in Foothill Farms earlier this week after he was struck by a vehicle.

The county coroner’s website indicates Devin Sweeting, 14, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Sweeting died at the scene, the California Highway Patrol said, after a Nissan Sentra traveling east on Elkhorn Boulevard hit him in the crosswalk at Andrea Boulevard.

Witnesses said the teen, who was using a scooter, entered the roadway against a red pedestrian traffic signal.
