Sacramento Police arrested Antoinette Stewart, 27, of Sacramento Monday on charges of felony DUI following a two-car accident in North Sacramento in which a passenger of her sedan was killed.
The Sacramento County coroner said that Tiffany Harris, 28, died at 12:45 a.m. Monday. Harris, Stewart and two other occupants of the sedan were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident, police said. The crash occurred at 12:02 a.m. at the corner of Northgate Boulevard and Tenaya Avenue in north Sacramento.
The other vehicle involved in the accident was a Hummer, said Sgt. Bryce Heinlein of the Sacramento Police Department, and the driver was not cited or charged. Police officers dispatched to the scene said that Stewart showed signs of intoxication.
“Once the officers on scene saw the severity of the injuries, they called out the major collision investigative unit,” Heinlein said, “and detectives came out to the scene.”
Heinlein did not know the status of others injured in the accident.
