Two men have been arrested in the slaying of a man Jan. 30 outside a South Lake Tahoe motel and police say additional arrests are expected.
South Lake Tahoe detectives investigating the death of 40-year-old Dennis Wright Jr. arrested 18-year-old Tristan Batten in Vallejo on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they arrested a second suspect, 20-year-old Harvest Davidson, in Sacramento.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of murder and have been booked on no-bail warrants, according to a South Lake Tahoe Police Department news release. Police said the men are not believed to be the suspects depicted in composite sketches the department released Feb. 3, and the investigation is continuing.
Wright and his girlfriend Kendra Ghiorso, both of Amador County, drove to South Lake Tahoe about 7:45 p.m. Jan. 30 to sell 100 pounds of marijuana to prospective buyers, according to police. During the transaction, two men tried to rob Wright and Ghiorso at gunpoint of the cash involved in the drug deal, police said.

The robbers struggled with Wright and Ghiorso in the parking lot of the Beverly Lodge, and one or both of the robbers fired a gun, according to police. Wright was struck multiple times and died after being taken to Barton Memorial Hospital.
Police continue to seek two men shown in composite sketches. One is described as in his late 20s to early 30s, about 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with black hair worn in braids or dreadlocks. The other man is described as with a light complexion, also in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, with black hair and tight curls.
Police said a tan-colored Chrysler Concorde sedan that may be associated with the crime was found by detectives in the Bay Area and seized as evidence.
Police said they have received several valuable tips from the community that have aided in the investigation.
