The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man killed in what they said was the violent end to a weekend drug deal.
The man shot to death along Fair Oaks Boulevard on Saturday night was identified as Nicholas Mitchell Jaffray, 25, of Valley Springs, Calaveras County.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at 9 p.m. Saturday reporting two vehicles in a chase in the 10500 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard in Fair Oaks. The caller heard a bang, went outside and reported seeing Jaffray slumped over in a vehicle.
Jaffray had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Detectives arrested Kane Am Thompson, 24, of North Highlands on suspicion of murder on Sunday afternoon. He was taken into custody in Vallejo.
Detectives believe the shooting occurred when a drug deal went bad. According to a sheriff's press release, detectives are looking for a second man in connection with the shooting.
