16-year-old girl found dead of gunshot wound in south Sacramento

A 16-year-old girl was found dead of a gunshot wound inside a parked vehicle in south Sacramento Sunday afternoon, according to the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department.

Just before 2:45 p.m., the department received a 911 call about an unresponsive female sitting inside a parked vehicle on the 8700 block of Inisheer Way, a sheriff’s news release said.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release said. Her identity will be made available when family has been notified.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene, the release said. The circumstances surrounding the death were still unclear Sunday evening.
