This week, Adele announced that a new album was ready – and that she was “sorry it took so long, but, you know, life happened.”

Now the wait is nearly over. “25” has a final release date on XL/Columbia Records: Nov. 20.

You couldn’t have scripted a more Adele-appropriate comeback than her new video for “Hello.”

A windswept forest, a nostalgic sepia color palette and intimations of total loneliness only overcome by the resilience of her voice? Yep, that about covers the waterfront.

The video, directed by Xavier Dolan, marks her first new music since contributing the theme to the 2012 film “Skyfall,” for which she won an Academy Award. “25” will be her first LP since 2011’s “21,” the best-selling album of the decade.

The singer made the announcement with an Instagram post. The 11-track album’s first single, “Hello,” was to be released Friday with a new video directed by Xavier Dolan.

“The thought of directing her in the ‘acting’ aspect of the term was exciting,” Dolan said in his director’s statement. “I discovered that she’s a very talented actress — no matter what she’ll tell you.”

Adele previously debuted a few seconds of “Hello” in a brief TV promo during a broadcast of the British version of “The X Factor.” Before announcing a release date, she detailed the album’s emotional core in a long note to fans:

“My last record was a break-up record, and if I had to label this one, I would call it a make-up record. … I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did.”

While a track list has been confirmed (see below), no credits have surfaced on the album, though rumors have floated names like Tobias Jesso Jr., Max Martin, Ariel Rechtshaid, Ryan Tedder and Damon Albarn as potential collaborators. “25” comes out Nov. 20 on XL/Columbia.
