Hummers, hot tubs and light bulbs: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s home energy tips, with video
Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, in Paris for the United Nations climate summit, has some home energy tips for you.
“What I did, for instance, at home was I created a huge area for solar, so that my whole swimming pool and Jacuzzi, certain areas in my house, is powered by solar,” he told The Bee at a reception here Sunday. “Or for instance my Hummer, I took a regular engine, a diesel engine that is a really high polluting engine and put in a different engine with bio-fuel.”
Don’t have a whole swimming pool and Jacuzzi area, or a Hummer?
No sweat. You might have light bulbs and kids – and a tough streak.
“To lower the consumption, we make sure that all the lights get turned off at the house,” Schwarzenegger said. “As a matter of fact my kids, whenever they didn’t turn off a light, I immediately unscrewed the light bulb, and at the end of the week there was no more light in the room. So they got the message very quickly.”
