The union representing some 11,000 state government engineers, most of them Caltrans employees, says that its members have overwhelmingly ratified a two-year labor deal that includes a raise.
The union’s bylaws require holding off on contract vote counting until a majority of members return their ballots. That threshold was crossed last week, Endean said, so the ballots were counted on Friday.
PECG’s deal, which is retroactive to July 2 of this year and expires July 1, 2015, includes a 3.3 percent raise effective on the contract’s last day. Like other labor agreements the Brown administration negotiated this year, it also increases business reimbursement rates, protects employees from furloughs and conforms to new pension laws that took effect this year.
California Attorneys, Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers In State Employment ( CASE), California Association of Professional Scientists ( CAPS) and Bargaining Unit 13 of the International Union Operating Engineers ( IUOE), which represent a combined 7,700 or so employees, are still working under the terms of expired contracts.
