Sacramento Executive Airport sets February 8 rainfall record
Sacramento Executive Airport is setting a new rainfall record today, surpassing the previous Feb. 8 mark of 1.22 inches.
As of 9 p.m., the south Sacramento airport had accumulated 1.34 inches of rain Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. The record is not official until rain totals are recorded at midnight.
Other precipitation data sites were falling short of their daily records, an indication of how Sunday’s weather system delivered a wider range of rainfall amounts across the region than normal, said National Weather Service meteorologist Craig Shoemaker.
Sacramento International Airport had 0.89 inches Sunday as of 9 p.m., while University Airport outside Davis had 0.31 inches, according to the National Weather Service website.
