The Kings agreed to a four-year, $32 million contract with free-agent center Kosta Koufos, a league source confirmed Saturday night.
The deal has a player option after three seasons.
Koufos, 26, averaged 5.2 points and 5.3 rebounds as a backup with Memphis last season.
The 7-foot, 265-pound Koufos gives Sacramento an experienced backup for DeMarcus Cousins. He also could play alongside Cousins or be a competent starter should the Kings trade their All-Star center.
Koufos played under Kings coach George Karl in Denver, where he averaged career highs of 8.0 points and 6.9 rebounds in 2012-13.
Koufos played at Ohio State and was drafted in the first round by Utah in 2008. He also has played for Minnesota. He spent the last two seasons with Memphis.
