49ers to sign Dartmouth QB Jack Heneghan, son of former team exec
The 49ers' undrafted rookie haul will include a quarterback, Dartmouth's Jack Heneghan, who is the son of former team executive Lal Heneghan.
The elder Heneghan, who was a quarterback at Penn, served as executive vice president of football administration from 2006 through 2011. During that time Jack Heneghan played at Menlo High School.
Because he attended a local high school, the Heneghan was able to take part in the 49ers' so-called "local" pro day a week before the draft.
Last year the 6-4, 230-pound Heneghan completed 63.1 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns against six interceptions.
He joins a 49ers quarterbacks group that includes Jimmy Garoppolo, C.J. Beathard and Nick Mullens.
The 49ers have not yet released their full list of undrafted free-agent signings, although some have been confirmed through the players' schools and agents. Those players are listed here.
