49ers pregame: Four RBs active: Trent Brown to start at tackle
The 49ers have four running backs in uniform, including rookie Mike Davis, against the Rams on the final week of the season. DuJuan Harris, who rushed for a game-high 73 yards last week in Detroit, is expected to get the bulk of the carries along with Davis.
Aussie Jarryd Hayne, who started the Lions game, and short-yardage specialist Kendall Gaskins, also are available.
On defense, the team is without starters Quinton Dial (back) and Jaquiski Tartt. Tony Jerod-Eddie is expected to start at defensive end for Dial while Jimmie Ward will start at strong safety for Tartt, who is his former high-school teammate. Keith Reaser is the frontrunner to take over Ward’s duties at nickel cornerback.
Offensive lineman Marcus Martin will miss his second straight start with concussion symptoms. Erik Pears will start at right guard while rookie Trent Brown will start at right tackle.
For the Rams, Tre Mason will start at running back for running Todd Gurley (foot).
