River Cats can’t dig out of early hole
The El Paso Chihuahuas roughed up River Cats starter Braulio Lara and reliever Brett Bochy in a 10-6 victory Saturday night at Raley Field.
Lara and Bochy pitched two innings each and gave up four hits and four runs each.
After a 1-2-3 first inning, Lara struggled in the second, allowing three doubles, a single and a walk. Rocky Gale’s two-run double was the big blow.
El Paso scored an unearned run in the third off Bochy, then added three runs in the fourth, highlighted by Brett Wallace’s two-run single.
Trailing 8-0, the River Cats came back on Juan Ciriaco’s three-run homer in the fourth and Ronny Cedeno’s two-run homer in the fifth.
John Bowker’s sacrifice fly in the sixth cut the gap to 8-6. El Paso added single runs in the seventh and eighth.
