Perez homers twice as River Cats rout Albuquerque
Juan Perez homered twice to lead an 18-hit attack as the visiting River Cats overpowered the Albuquerque Isotopes 12-5 Monday night.
Perez hit a two-run homer in the third inning and a three-run drive in the eighth. Carlos Triunfel added a third-inning solo homer for Sacramento.
Travis Ishikawa had run-scoring singles in the first and third innings and a sacrifice fly in the fourth to help the River Cats led 7-0 after 31/2 innings.
In the fourth, the Isotopes roughed up Sacramento starter Ty Blach by scoring five runs on seven hits, including Ryan Casteel’s two-run homer.
But Blach settled down and gave up only one hit in his final three innings to pick up the victory.
The River Cats added two runs in the seventh on Darren Ford’s single and Triunfel’s double.
