Punchless River Cats lose to Nashville

The River Cats’ losing streak grew to six games with a 5-0 loss to the Nashville Sounds on Monday at Raley Field.

Sacramento had only four hits, none after the fourth inning, against three Nashville pitchers.

Former River Cats Matt Carson and Anthony Aliotti had two RBIs each for the Sounds.

Another ex-River Cat, Barry Zito, is scheduled to start for Nashville on Tuesday night. The 37-year-old former Cy Young Award winner pitched for the River Cats in 2000 before being called up by the A’s that year.

Zito, who did not pitch last season, is attempting a comeback after signing a minor-league deal with Oakland.
