The Fresno Grizzlies scored twice off Giants starter Jake Peavy in the first inning and handed the River Cats their fourth consecutive loss, 3-1 at Raley Field on Tuesday night.
Peavy, on a rehabilitation assignment for a strained back, gave up three runs and five hits in seven innings. He struck out five and walked two.
In the first inning, Fresno put two runners on via walks, and with two outs, L.J. Hoes hit a two-run double to left.
The River Cats made it 2-1 in the fourth when Adam Duvall led off with a double and scored on Travis Ishikawa’s single.
The Grizzlies restored a two-run lead in the fifth on Tony Kemp’s inside-the-park homer on a drive to center.
