Isotopes blast River Cats, who lose 9-6
Host Albuquerque unleashed an early offensive barrage on Saturday night, then coasted for a 9-6 win over the Sacramento River Cats.
The Isotopes scored eight runs in the first three innings off Sacramento starter Nik Turley (4-5), who took the loss.
The key blows for Albuquerque were home runs by Tim Smalling and Angelys Nina.
Jarrett Parker homered for the River Cats in Sacramento’s four-run second inning off winning pitcher Boone Whiting (3-4). It was Parker’s 15th homer of the season. The Giants’ Nori Aoki, on a rehab assignment, was 2 for 3.
The loss dropped Sacramento’s record to 44-57.
