Matt Cain wraps up year-ending win for River Cats
Nik Turley and Giants starter Matt Cain teamed on a four-hitter Monday as the River Cats ended the season with an 11-0 rout of the Albuquerque Isotopes at Raley Field.
Turley went seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out eight. Cain, on a rehabilitation assignment because of an irritated nerve in his right elbow, threw the final two innings and gave up two hits and struck out two. The Giants plan to activate Cain on Thursday.
Offensively, Mac Williamson had two homers and three RBIs, and Jarrett Parker hit a three-run homer.
The River Cats finished 71-73 in their first season as the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate.
