Pros

• The dashboard actually helps you study: Some platforms bury everything in menus, but Analyst Prep made it easy to see what I’d covered, where I was struggling, and what I should tackle next.
• Adaptive quizzes prevent wasted study time: I liked that the question bank pushed me toward weaker topics instead of having me repeatedly answer questions I already knew.
• Explanations teach you the material: Even when I missed a question, I rarely felt frustrated because the answer explanations did a good job explaining the reasoning behind the correct answer.
• Lifetime access removes some pressure: Knowing I could come back to the materials later or use them again for Part II made the investment feel more worthwhile.

Cons

2. Kaplan Schweser: Great Value and Structure

Kaplan Schweser has been one of the biggest names in FRM® exam prep for years, so I had pretty high expectations going in. What stood out to me most wasn’t flashy technology or fancy features—it was how organized everything felt. There was never a point where I was wondering what I should study next or whether I was spending time on the right material.

The SchweserNotes™ were one of my favorite parts of the course. They’re concise without feeling overly simplified, which helped me move through topics faster without getting bogged down in unnecessary details. I also liked how the Activity Feed broke everything into manageable tasks instead of making the FRM® curriculum feel overwhelming.

Where Kaplan really shines, though, is preparation. The QBank provided plenty of opportunities to reinforce concepts, and the mock exams did a great job capturing the style and pacing of the actual test. By the time I finished working through the material, I felt like I had a realistic idea of what exam day would look like.

Kaplan isn’t the most innovative FRM® prep course I’ve used, and students looking for highly adaptive learning tools or extensive instructor interaction may find other platforms more appealing. But if you want a proven system with excellent study notes, realistic practice questions, and enough structure to keep you on track, it’s easy to see why Kaplan Schweser remains one of the most trusted names in FRM® prep.

Between the detailed explanations, challenging practice questions, and regular interaction from instructors, the course feels more like an ongoing conversation than a one-way lecture.

That approach won’t appeal to everyone. Compared with more polished competitors like Analyst Prep and Kaplan Schweser, Bionic Turtle feels less streamlined and requires more independence from the student. But if you enjoy digging deeper and learning alongside other candidates, it’s easy to see why so many FRM® students swear by it.

Udemy’s FRM® exam prep courses vary depending on the instructor, but they’re a budget-friendly way to dip your toes into FRM® content. If you’re brand new to the field or working with a tight budget, it’s a solid place to start. I haven’t used Udemy for FRM® since I’m not taking that exam, but in the past, I have used it to learn things about topics I was interested in. They definitely taught me, but not so well that I would feel comfortable putting my certification on the line.

While these courses aren’t as comprehensive as the big-name platforms, many students say they helped build a strong foundation before moving on to more intensive FRM® exam prep programs.
