An Elk Grove Police Department patrol car was involved in a crash at Bond Road and Elk Crest Drive that required extrication on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, fire officials said.

A crash involving an Elk Grove Police Department patrol car required the extrication of a sergeant, who was taken to a local hospital Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Eastbound lanes of Bond Road remain closed between Emerald Crest Drive and East Stockton Boulevard, according to tweets by the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department and EGPD shortly after 8:10 a.m.

In an update, the Police Department tweeted that a sergeant involved in the collision was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The other involved driver was not hurt.

Photos from the scene show the crash happened at the intersection of Bond Road and Elk Crest Drive. The Cosumnes Fire Department referred to the incident as a vehicle accident with extrication, and the Police Department in a tweet confirmed one of its patrol vehicles was involved, but it was not immediately clear whether the patrol car or another vehicle required the extrication.
