What’s going on at new Elk Grove shopping center? More tenants open, big-box stores coming

A trio of new storefronts have opened at Elk Grove’s The Ridge shopping center in the past month with the site’s representatives saying major box stores are also on the way.

Boxing fitness concept Mayweather Boxing and Fitness; local home improvement chain Zothex Flooring, Cabinets & More; and AT&T have opened at the center at Elk Grove Boulevard and Bruceville Road, say Ridge representatives.

“The Ridge is coming together,” Kelly Rule, vice president of leasing at The Ridge developer Pappas Investments, said Friday.

Rule said the center is 93% pre-leased with “some majors coming together,” including a yet-to-be-announced national bank and some 100,000 square feet of big-box tenants.

The Ridge is home to Costco and, as reported last month, an Amazon Fresh now under construction. The nearly 42,000 square-foot Amazon supermarket will join a planned Roseville site on Stanford Ranch Road as the Sacramento-area’s first two Amazon Fresh locations. Also under construction at The Ridge, a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant on Elk Grove Boulevard at the northeast corner of Bruceville Road.

Meantime, cosmetics brand Sephora plans to set up shop alongside Amazon Fresh, Rule said. Sephora has most recently partnered with Kohl’s department stores with a store-in-store concept, including at the Kohl’s Elk Grove location in the neighboring Elk Grove Commons shopping center on Bruceville Road.

“We’re glad to have them,” she said.

Restaurant and bakery Rumi’s Oasis in the Elk Grove Commons shopping center is slated for a March opening.

Several international dining options will also soon fill space at The Ridge, already home to N’Joy Cafe, Olive Garden, Crumbl Cookies among others.

Bay Area Greek cuisine franchise Nick the Greek is coming soon to the center. The restaurant chain with some 29 Northern California locations has sites locally in Davis and Roseville, with plans for additional sites in Folsom, Natomas, the Fountains Roseville and in Sacramento, according to its website.

Curry Up Now, which also has a location at midtown Sacramento’s Ice Blocks, is also on deck along with the Philippines-based dining chain Jollibee, which will put down stakes behind Starbucks on the center’s Elk Grove Boulevard side, Rule said.

Rule said business at The Ridge — and in Elk Grove — has remained brisk during the ongoing pandemic.

“During the pandemic, we haven’t slowed down,” she said. “It’s been very busy, signing leases, (attracting) new tenants. Elk Grove is a growing area and very popular for retailers.”

The Ridge’s new locations are preparing to open as other retailers and restaurants are welcoming customers or readying for their Elk Grove debuts in the coming months.

Children’s hair salon Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids debuted Friday in the EyeOptics Optometry Center on Laguna Boulevard near Highway 99, next to Leatherby’s Family Creamery and Peet’s Coffee.

Connecticut-based furniture retailer Bob’s Discount Furniture is working toward an April 25 opening of its 32,369 square-foot space in the Laguna Crossroads shopping center at Laguna Boulevard and Bruceville Road.

Louisiana-based Raising Cane’s opened Feb. 22, adding to the city’s quick-dining lineup with its 9,000 square-foot dine-in and carryout at Marketplace 99 shopping center on East Stockton Boulevard.
