A $29 million community center is OK’d in Elk Grove. What’s inside and when will it open?
Elk Grove will see a new $29.35 million, 54,000-square-foot community recreation center open late next year, with crews expected to break ground in May.
Cosumnes Community Services District awarded Southern California firm J.P. Amaroso Construction the multimillion contract for the planned CORE Recreation Center in the city’s Morse Community Park at the park district’s Wednesday meeting, officials announced Friday.
The center at the 30-acre park at 5540 Bellaterra Drive will feature two gymnasiums, an indoor jogging track, multipurpose rooms and indoor and outdoor fitness spaces, officials say.
Cosumnes officials anticipate construction of the two-story center will be completed in late 2024. Plans for the CORE Center, its name taken from “Cosumnes Recreation,” have been in the works since 2019, say officials.
“We envision CORE to be a community hub in this growing and dynamic area of southern Elk Grove,” Cosumnes Community Services District board president Gil Albiani said in a statement.
