Jollibee brings signature Filipino fried chicken to Elk Grove shopping center
Jollibee, a Filipino drive-through restaurant, is opening its second location in the Sacramento region, with construction underway at an Elk Grove shopping center.
Red banners that read “Jollibee Opening Soon” are visible as visitors enter The Ridge shopping center at Elk Grove Boulevard and Ginther Road. The 2,400-square-foot store will be neighbored by a Starbucks and adjacent to a Costco gasoline station.
The Ridge recently announced the coming of Jollibee on its social media via Instagram.
“Get ready… @jollibeeus is officially coming to @theridge_elkgrove later this year! Our mouths are already watering as we count down the days until we can snack on some of their famous fried chicken,” the Instagram post read.
The fast food chain has 103 restaurants in North America and more than 1,700 worldwide with more stores, like the Elk Grove location, planned to open, according to the company website.
The arrival of the new local store was first made public when Elk Grove’s planning commission approved a notice of determination on the site in December 2023.
Kelly Rule, vice president of leasing at Pappas Investments, which owns and operates The Ridge, said the restaurant is expected to open by September.
“We‘re really excited about Jollibee,” Rule said in an interview. “They’re a highly sought-after tenant for the area. We received a lot of requests to get a Jollibee and we’re happy that they’re coming to our center.”
Jollibee touts itself as the “largest and fastest growing Asian restaurant company” in the world.
“In each market we call home, we serve up our great tasting food with the warm and friendly service we have come to be known for,” the company’s website says. “In the Philippines, there is a term we call “Bayanihan,” which means an act by which people work together towards a common good.”
Jollibee is best known for its signature fried chicken, Chickenjoy, made with a juicy marinade.
Other Jollibee menu items include hamburgers, sweet-style Jolly spaghetti and peach mango pie made with real Philippine mangoes, the company’s website said.
Jollibee’s Elk Grove restaurant will be the company’s second location in the region, joining one at 6021 Mack Road in south Sacramento.
