An Asian fusion restaurant that recently opened in Elk Grove looks to bring a new flavor to the city in south Sacramento County.

Sky Port Restaurant and Bar held its soft opening in late May and now welcomes visitors to its fine dining eatery located at 2619 West Taron Ct. in Elk Grove, just off the Interstate 5 exit near Elk Grove Boulevard.

The Asian fusion restaurant is owned by Jonathan Lam, an entrepreneur and retired Coast Guard veteran, and led by chef Jonathan Esquivel who has experience in Michelin-recognized kitchens, the Sky Port website says.

The restaurant is a mix of Italian, Mexican and Chinese cuisines, and includes some sushi, restaurant assistant manager Jocelyn Torres said.

The restaurant hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

What’s on the menu?

Their lunch menu includes three bento box options: west bento, east bento and sushi bento.

Their sushi bento box has fried tempura shrimp, unagi over rice, nigiri and sashimi. Each bento box comes with fruit and the option of soup or dessert.

The west bento box includes a green salad, creamy mashed potatoes and a green forest omelette.

The east bento box consists of a spring roll, their classic tangy chicken with the option of steamed rice, fried rice or chow mein.

They also have a four-course prix fixe menu for $68 per person, which includes dessert, that patrons can mix-and-match. Items are also available a la carte.

Some of the first-course menu options include gazpacho, croquettes, sushi and calamari. Second-course items offer items such as shrimp empanada, green bean chicken and walnut shrimp.

Third-course entrees options include risotto aubergine, tagliatelle al tartufo, pato en pipian, mongolian beef, kung pao chicken and black pepper steak. Assorted sushi rolls are also included in the third course option.

The fourth-course menu is an option of tiramisu, a matcha mousse or a coconut panna cotta.

‘No need to go all the way downtown’

The restaurant’s website says they “take pride in curating menus that reflect our passion for creating memorable dining experiences, accompanied by a sophisticated ambiance and impeccable service.”

Torres said it’s something that they want Elk Grove residents to look forward to as a viable option, and it’s here in their own backyard.

“They want to create something for Elk Grove,” Torres said. “Like there’s no need anymore to go all the way downtown… you have some people with experience in both cuisines. They have the art to do any cuisine or create new things.

“It’s good for bringing new air to Elk Grove.”
