Elk Grove Police Department to hold DUI, license checkpoint this weekend
The Elk Grove Police Department will conduct a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint at an undisclosed location over the weekend, the agency said in a news release.
The check will take place inside the city limits between 7 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.
“The checkpoint will focus on removing impaired drivers, as well as unlicensed drivers from the roadways,” the release said. Educational materials on the dangers of driving under the influence will be handed out to those who go through the checkpoint.
The most recent sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint in Elk Grove was in mid-February.
California law requires drivers to stop and submit to a sobriety checkpoint when required by law enforcement.
