Two sisters from El Dorado Hills have brought their shared passion for fitness and marketing together to create a new venture — Studio 12 Pilates.

The new Pilates studio will start classes Monday at its location at 1880 Prairie City Road, Suite 140, in Folsom. The two sisters — Sarah Dezordo, 28, and Ally Orman, 27 — will lead classes alongside two additional staffers.

“We fell in love with the workouts, and we were like, ‘Let’s blend our two passions, marketing and Pilates,” Orman said.

Folsom and El Dorado Hills have about 10 Pilates studios between the two communities. However, the sisters said Studio 12 Pilates offers small class sizes, something they said is less common. The new business has eight reformers — a piece of equipment with different tension levels used during classes — which can enhance safety.

“With Pilates, you want to make sure that your form is correct so you can get the most out of your workout, and that you’re not getting injured,” Dezordo said. “We feel that with eight (reformers) ... (instructors) can really be involved, watch everybody, make sure that everybody is doing everything correctly and feel it’s a good workout in a good setting.”

Monthly membership rates are $99 for four classes, $169 for eight classes and $229 for unlimited classes. Members are limited to one class per day. A limited-time promotion offers $149 a month for eight classes and $189 for unlimited classes. A deadline for the promotional price has not been set as of publication.

The two sisters worked at nearby Intel campus and said they expected the Prairie City Crossing location to attract workers and families alike, citing a mix of commercial and residential areas nearby.

“We’re so happy to be close to so many businesses where people want to work out during that lunchtime,” Orman said. “We’re close to the high school. There are lots of moms and maybe even their older kids want to work out together.”

Studio 12 Pilates will offer three different types of classes. “Intro to Reformer” introduces members to the reformer, “Beginner Reformer Flow” focuses on foundations and “All Levels Reformer Flow” provides a full-body workout.

Both Orman and Dezordo are graduates of Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills. They attended Texas Christian University before returning to the area.

“I grew up here, and honestly I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else,” Orman said.

“We love the people,” Dezordo said. “Our community is so strong.”
