Sacramento man arrested in Rocklin faces ID theft, parole violation charges
A Sacramento man with a history of identity theft faces a variety of charges in Placer County after deputies arrested him following a traffic stop last week west of Rocklin, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
On June 15, a deputy observed a driver along West Sunset Boulevard and Cincinnati Avenue swerving in traffic and tailgating a vehicle. The man — identified as Michael John Dagostino, 46 — had also driven past a stop sign, deputies said.
After being pulled over, deputies learned Dagostino, a transient, was wanted on a felony warrant for violating parole. Inside the vehicle, the deputy “found a meth pipe and two California-issued driver’s licenses that did not belong to him,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post on Saturday. Placer deputies and Sacramento Superior Court records show Dagostino has a history of identity theft crimes dating back to 2013.
Authorities said Dagostino’s phone contained messages that “contained photos of a reproduced check and personal identifying information of an identity theft victim.”
Dagostino was arrested on suspicion of identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as his outstanding warrant. Placer County Jail logs indicate he was released.
