One person dies as car strikes tree and catches fire in West Sacramento, police say
One person died in a fiery car crash in West Sacramento, police said.
The crash occurred at 8 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Riverside Parkway.
Police responded to reports of the crash. When they arrived, they saw a car had run into a tree and was on fire.
Officers tried to pull the driver from the car but were unsuccessful as flames engulfed the vehicle.
West Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived to extinguish the flames.
The identity of the driver will be released by the Yolo County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin has been notified.
