Yolo County offers free dental care at upcoming back-to-school fair
The Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency will host a free dental clinic for children and young adults later this month, the county announced in a news release.
The clinic will take place at the Yolo County Children’s Alliance’s back-to-school resource fair on Saturday. July 25, in West Sacramento.
The event is in partnership with Kaiser Permanente and Smile Dental Services. Smile Dental Services will provide dental exams, varnish treatments, sealants, oral health education and referrals for more services to county residents younger than 20. Yolo HHSA will provide free toothbrushes, toothpaste and other resources through its Oral Health Program.
The back-to-school resource fair is an annual event that provides free school supplies to Yolo County kids. The event includes educational booths and vendors, kid-friendly activities and community resources for children and families.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at River City High School, 1 Raider Lane, in West Sacramento.
Pre-registration is required and can be submitted online. Proof of Yolo County residency will be required, but the event will not require insurance, school enrollment or any other eligibility criteria.
The Yolo County oral health program will host other events this year, the county announced. The program aims “to prevent dental disease and connect residents with quality dental care through school dental screenings, oral health education, and community outreach throughout Yolo County,” according to the news release.
