Your Sacramento weekend guide: Eat, shop, laugh, bike. And Capitol Beer Fest returns
Another week complete means another weekend to celebrate. And another weekend to celebrate means another Sacramento Bee weekend guide to get you through an activity-packed three-day adventure that you don’t have to plan.

Friday
Enjoy a Spooky Family Night in Orangevale
6826 Hazel Ave., Orangevale
Get the kids dressed in their favorite costume and spend Friday night playing Halloween activities, trailing through a haunted maze at the Orangevale Community Center. Don’t forget your blankets, lawn chairs and pillows because “The Adams Family” will play in the auditorium.
Trunk or Treat starts at 5:30 p.m. and the movie is scheduled to follow at 7 p.m. Food trucks will be available.

Saturday
Support a small business at the Oak Park Farmers Market
3500 Fifth Ave., Sacramento
The Oak Park Famers Market, which runs every Wednesday and Saturday through October, features a diverse group of vendors selling locally produced fruits, vegetables, specialty plants and sprouts, bread, cheese, tamales, fresh flowers and more at McClatchy Park. Vendors also provide family-friendly activities and live music.
The Oak Park Famers Market opens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

Spend the morning in the garden

Stop by the Fair Oaks Horticulture Center and get ideas for the fall planting season and how to make the most of your season crop. Sponsored by Sacramento Master Gardener, the Open Garden event asks the community to roam the garden, see what’s being grown and ask master gardeners questions from 9 a.m. to noon

Peddle through a Bike race at Miller Park
The Sacramento Cyclocross race series is back for its second race at Miller Park. Prepare to be challenged by the course designed in several ways and, because there’s enough hillside, your legs will burn the entire way through. Refer to the race day schedule for start times.

Grab a beer at Capitol Beer Fest
Capitol Mall from Third street to Eighth Street
Capitol Beer Fest will host its 11th annual festival with national brewers, food trucks and live music. To enter the 21-years-old and over event, you must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before the gates open.
The festival kicks off from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for general admission ticket holders. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit Runnin’ for Rhett Foundation.

Spend the day at the South Sacramento Festival
7760 24th Street, Sacramento
Celebrate all that South Sacramento has to offer at the first South Sacramento Festival in Meadowview Park. Organized by the office of Sacramento City Councilwoman Mai Vang, the festival is scheduled to have multicultural performances, food vendors and community-based organization tables.
Gates open at 2 p.m. and close at 6 p.m.

Laugh at Margaret Cho: Fresh off the Bloat stand-up comedy show
Crest Theatre, 1013 K St., Sacramento
Catch a laugh at Margaret Cho: Fresh off the Bloat stand-up comedy show at the Crest Theatre. Margaret Moran Cho is an American actress, musician, stand-up comedian, fashion designer and author.
Cho is best known for her stand-up routines where she critiques social and political problems.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and is scheduled to run until 9:30 p.m.

Sunday
Score an item at Sacramento Antique Faire
1 Sports Parkway, Sacramento
The Sacramento Antique Faire is an antiques and collectibles marketplace held on the second Sunday of every month. About 300 vendors from Northern California and beyond are scheduled to sell antique and vintage goods, including furniture, clothing, jewelry and more.
Pets aren’t allowed, food and ATM cash machines will be on site.
