Sacramento weekend guide: Beer, boxers, stand-up — or a free ski lift at this festival
Thanksgiving is next week, and for some, this means it’s the last weekend before the chaos of holiday shopping and turkey dinners.
Whether you need to entertain your out-of-towner friends and family or want to unwind, here are some events for Nov. 19-21:
Friday
Get up to four free ski lift tickets at the Nor Cal Ski & Snowboard Festival
Cal Expo Center, 1600 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento
Ski and snowboarding fanatics can enjoy this three-day festival starting Friday. Attendees can get up to four complimentary lift tickets, which include Homewood Mountain Resort, Palisades Tahoe and Bear Valley. There will also be apparel and gear sales, entertainment from pro athletes and beer tasting.

Have some laughs at the Hipster Treehouse
STAB! Comedy Theater, 1710 Broadway, Sacramento
Comedian Chad Opitz will be headlining this Friday’s Hipster Treehouse Stand-Up Comedy Show. There will be drinks and a raffle where you can win a succulent plant.
Vaccinations are required. Masks must be worn unless you are eating or drinking.

Saturday
Grab a pint and support rescue boxers
2534 Industrial Blvd, West Sacramento
In support of rescues, you can grab some craft brews at Bike Dog Brewery. There will also be local vendors, live entertainment and raffle prizes. Proceeds will go to Norcal Boxer Rescue, a temporary sanctuary for boxers in need.

See the Sacramento Kings shoot some hoops
Golden 1 Center, 500 David J. Stern Walk, Sacramento
The Sacramento Kings will be going head-to-head with Utah Jazz at the Golden 1 Center on Saturday.

Get in the Thanksgiving mood at a pop-up shop
Sacramento Youth Center, 1901 Del Paso Blvd, Sacramento
More than 20 vendors will be at this week’s Thanksgiving-themed pop-up shop at the Sacramento Youth Center. There will activities for kids, music and food.
Masks or proof of vaccination is required. Tickets are free and you can register here.
Sunday
Do a self-guided scavenger hunt
1303 10th St., Sacramento
Take your friends and family on a self-guided scavenger hunt in Sacramento — or challenge yourself by doing it alone. Each hunt consists of multiple locations where you have to answer questions or solve puzzles to get the next clue.
Participants only need a mobile device with an internet connection.

Take a ride in a classic car
California Auto Museum, 2200 Front St, Sacramento
Every third Sunday of the month, you can enjoy a free ride in a classic car at the California Automobile Museum. Choices range from a 1943 Army Jeep to a 1951 Ford Crestliner.
You’ll need to pay admission to the museum to hop on your free ride. The last admission will be sold at 4 p.m.
