Another secretive Van Gogh immersive coming to Sacramento. Securing your spot might be tricky
A second immersive Van Gogh exhibit will be setting up its colorful art projections in Sacramento in June.
“Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience” is a digital show featuring virtual reality and is ”a 20,000 square foot light and sound spectacular featuring two-story projections of the artist’s most compelling works.”
Tickets for the event are going to be released at 9 a.m., March 8, but people can sign up now for the waitlist on the website.
The presentation is from one of the many companies advertising a new, one-of-a-kind way to appreciate the Dutch post-impressionist artist.
In January, “Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience” announced its plans to come to Sacramento. The exhibit is said to feature 300 of Vincent van Gogh’s artwork, high resolution portrayals and music.
One thing both of these experiences have in common — secrecy. The Immersive Experience has not yet released information about specific dates the exhibit will be in town and where it will be located. According to the website, however, tickets start at $32.20 for adults and $19.10 for kids. Tickets are nonrefundable in most cases.
Beyond Van Gogh is more mysterious with no details yet of when, where or ticket pricing.
While the mystery can be exciting for some, a lack of information has caused issues for few cities that hosted a similar exhibit.
“Immersive Van Gogh,” another rendition of the digital art show traveling the country, delayed its opening day and had to refund and reschedule about 46,000 tickets, according to a Dallas Morning News report. But some people were left in the dark.
The same company hosted and postponed an exhibit in Kansas City, Missouri, after more than 100,000 tickets had been sold, citing issues with finding a venue. The shows in Dallas and Kansas City did eventually proceed with their exhibitions.
Both Beyond Van Gogh and The Immersive Experience have set up exhibits across the country and around the world. The latter has presented in Beijing, Berlin and Dallas, and is currently selling tickets for Seattle, Washington D.C., London and more.
