Sacramento’s Funderland Amusement Park opened a new attraction to its historic, family-friendly park Wednesday — and it isn’t just for kids.

The park’s new installation, called “Fort Funhouse,” is a two-story jungle gym meant for children and adults. Last year’s jungle gym was meant for only kids, and the park decided to change that for this year’s exhibit, Funderland Operations Manager Gerry Watt said.

“We noticed a lot of the parents thought the Monkey Zoo was a lot of fun, so we brought in this new one, and it has the capability for both children and adults to enjoy,” Watt said.

Funderland, in William Land Park, is open February through November.

This is the park’s second time introducing a new installation to the park, which has nine permanent rides throughout the season including a carousel and train. Funderland added a new temporary installation for the first time last year.

The new jungle gym, which held its grand opening Wednesday, includes rope ladders, suspension bridges and several long slides for people to enjoy.

“It’s really a gym where you get to experience the different sensations of going through a jungle,” Watt said.

The new attraction is included in the park’s admission pass. For children taller than 2 feet 10 inches, tickets are $22, and are free for kids under this height. Tickets are $17 for adults and $10 for seniors over the age of 60.

Parking at the amusement park is free. Funderland is open 11 a.m to 5 p.m. from Wednesday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
