Sacramento’s Aftershock Festival unveils its closing headliner for 2023. It’s a big one

Sacramento’s biggest annual rock music festival, Aftershock has announced the closing headliner for its 2023 edition, and it looks like “November Rain” will come a month early this year.

Guns N’ Roses will headline the fourth and final day of the hard rock and metal music festival at Discovery Park, which runs Oct. 5 to Oct. 8.

The band is the first act confirmed for this year’s Aftershock. The remaining lineup, including headliners for the first three days of the festival, will be released soon, organizer Danny Wimmer Presents said in a Tuesday news release.

The announcement came as Guns N’ Roses also on Tuesday unveiled its upcoming tour through North America, Europe and the Middle East, which will launch this June in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Aftershock Festival marks one of just two California stops on the tour. Guns N’ Roses will play in San Diego on Oct. 1.

Last year’s Aftershock Festival saw some 160,000 fans in attendance, a new record. Slipknot, Kiss, My Chemical Romance and Muse headlined in 2022.

The 2022 festival marked the 10th Aftershock Festival. After cancellation in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aftershock in 2021 expanded from three days to four.
