Alysa Liu featured in TikTok-famous pop star's star-studded new music video

Alysa Liu was able to win gold in figure skating at the 2026 Olympics thanks in part to skating to a song by Laufey. Now, she's joined a star-studded cast to act in the musician's latest video.

On Monday, the Icelandic pop star released the music video for her latest song "Madwoman," which featured Liu acting as one of the singer's three "Besties." The other two friends in the music video are actress Lola Tung, who's best known for playing the lead role in the Amazon Prime Video series "The Summer I Turned Pretty," and Megan Skiendiel, a musician from the girl group Katseye. Also featured is "Heated Rivalry" star Hudson Williams, who plays "the Man" in the video.

The duo teased the figure skater's appearance in the music video on social media over the past few weeks, posting glamor shots from the shoot day. It's a continuation of a friendship between the musician - who has more than 10 million followers on TikTok, a platform that significantly boosted her fame - and the winter sports star that has taken center stage in the past 15 months.

Liu used two of Laufey's songs as part of her skating program during the 2024-25 season, which she capped off by skating to "Let You Break My Heart Again" during the exhibition gala at the 2025 U.S. national championships. But her main short program song throughout the season was "Promise," one she kept for the 2025-26 season - and brought with her to Milan for the Olympics.

But before Liu took Laufey's music to the Olympic ice, Laufey brought the Oakland-raised figure skater to the stage during a San Francisco concert last September, giving her a "best dressed" award (Liu is shown wearing her championship medal and the costume she skated to "Promise" in). And now, Laufey has brought Liu further into her musical world with the video, in which Liu dances in go-go boots, plays mahjong by the pool with Tung and shows off her now-famous halo hairstyle.

Laufey isn't the only music star Liu has interacted with in recent weeks. In late March, Liu presented Taylor Swift with the Artist of the Year award at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, with the two clearly showing a bond.
