10-Year-Old Dog Returned to Shelter After 6 Years Wags His Tail Whenever Someone Walks By
Animal shelters can cause fear and anxiety in dogs due to the chaotic environment. Many canines wind up in rescue kennels as a result of homelessness or pet parent surrender. Senior dogs have an even more difficult time in shelters, especially if they've lived most of their lives in a home.
Tango is a 10-year-old dog who is now at the Maui Humane Society six years after adoption. Despite his heartbreaking situation, Tango shows his loving spirit every time he sees a human being nearby.

In the TikTok from @cassondrachristman, Tango was sadly lying in his dog bed in his kennel. His ribs were sticking out from under his fur, revealing his fragile condition and lack of proper nutrition. Tango immediately brightened when a shelter staff member approached him. His tail instantly went into wag mode as he realized he had company.
"He is the happiest old guy around," the onscreen text read. "Every time I go by his kennel, I go in and say hi and leave some snackies."
The social media post shared that Tango has the same reaction whenever he catches a glimpse of someone near his kennel.
"Every time he sees someone, his tail starts going," the story continued.
Tango Was Abandoned
The senior pooch was found as a stray even though he had previously been adopted.
"My heart breaks for Tango in so many different ways," the caption shared. "Back at the shelter after 6 years, emaciated and now 10 years old and no one came to find him. What has happened to you, buddy?"
Tango's bio describes him as a "very jolly old fella" who greets people with "a darling little happy dance". He's been through heartbreak and trauma, yet he still has a kind spirit and a heart of gold.
