San Francisco police arrest pair in stabbing incident that injured 2

Two people were stabbed during an incident near San Francisco's Civic Center on Sunday evening, fire officials said.

Paramedics responded to the scene of Seventh and Market streets around 6:15 p.m., where they found two people suffering from stab wounds, fire officials said.

The pair were taken to hospitals in critical condition, officials said.

Police said they arrested two people suspected in the stabbing. Their identities were not immediately released.

Spokespersons for the department said officers responding to the incident also received reports of several fights breaking out in a crowd that had gathered near United Nations Plaza. Officers declared an unlawful assembly after attempting to break up scores of people who were assaulting each other.

The crowd disbanded after the dispersal order, and no arrests were made, officials said.

Officials said it was not immediately clear whether the fighting was related to the stabbing.

The violence occurred as the streets were packed around Civic Center, where thousands of people had attended an afternoon Pride festival following Sunday's LGBTQ parade. It was not clear whether the incidents were related to the festival.
