This large show and sale features not only African violets but their many cousins. Come see hundreds of beautiful plants in bloom. Take home some rarities for your own collection, too; more than 1,000 hard-to-find plants will be offered for sale along with supplies.

It’s an indoor garden party. Exotic Plants celebrates its 45th anniversary with a day full of free workshops: terrariums (10 a.m.), Kokedama (Japanese moss balls, 1 p.m.), bonsai (2 p.m.) and orchid care (3:30 p.m.).

Learn how to create an indoor garden of Tillandsia, better known as “airplants.” Members of the bromeliad family, these little wonders may not require soil, but they need more than air to survive. Learn how to keep airplants looking their best and take home your completed “air garden,” too.

Hosted by Preservation Sacramento, tour historic homes in Sacramento’s oldest neighborhood, Alkali Flat. Among the featured stops is the Johnson House, built in 1853 and recently restored to its mid-1800s glory. Also, a free street fair featuring local artisans and renovation experts will be held at Johnson Park.
