Water-wise tip: Cut back on sprinklers

It’s time to adjust the sprinklers. November marks the start of Sacramento’s reduced watering schedule. Residents are allowed to water once a week on their choice of Saturday or Sunday.

Why cut back now? Unless you recently reseeded the lawn, that grass needs little extra irrigation during cooler and (hopefully) wetter weather. Run the sprinklers for other plantings when the ground dries out or to irrigate recent transplants. Too much fall and winter water can lead to root rot and other problems.
