Christmas is over, the new year is fast approaching and it’s time to get the dry tree out of the house. Here’s where to recycle your Christmas tree in the Sacramento area.
▪ Sacramento city tree recycling
Where: Residences throughout the city of Sacramento
When: Weekly curbside pick-up through Jan. 31
Cost: Covered by monthly city utility fee
Details: City of Sacramento residential yard waste customers can place Christmas trees and other holiday greenery on the curb as part of leaf season.
▪ West Sacramento tree recycling
Where: Yolo County Landfill, 44090 County Road 28H
When: 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday
Cost: Free drop-off
Details: West Sacramento residents can recycle Christmas trees in one of three ways: Drop it off at the landfill, cut it into small enough sections to fit inside the waste cart, or bundle 3-foot sections and place them next to the waste cart on scheduled service day. Where: Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station, 8491 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento
When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, through Jan. 31
Cost: Free
