This is part of a weekly feature in Home & Garden, highlighting ways residents can save water.
▪ Recycle indoor water outdoors.
This starts with a “shower bucket,” collecting water while the shower flow warms. But why stop there? Keep a pitcher next to the kitchen sink and collect leftover water (such as melted ice from glasses, water used to boil eggs, etc.) for later use on your thirsty plants outdoors. (Indoor plants appreciate a drink, too.) When recycling water, avoid water that’s been salted for cooking. Always let water cool to room temperature before applying on plants.
