Sacramento County master gardeners open their horticulture center to visitors for a firsthand look at how the experts tackle gardening chores and spring tasks. Learn about water-wise vegetable gardening and fruit tree care. Got pests or garden problems? Bring a sample (in a sealed plastic bag) and/or photos for diagnosis and advice.

The UC Davis Arboretum hosts its first plant sale of 2016 with hundreds of water-wise selections and California natives. This sale is reserved for members of the Friends of the Arboretum; new members can sign up at the door, receive 10 percent off purchases plus an additional $10 off as a thank-you for joining.

Oak Park’s new nursery hosts this homegrown event, devoted to small specialty growers and vendors. Among the featured sellers and products will be Mad Man Bamboo, Morningsun Herb Farm, Merlyn Lenear’s succulents, Tufarock Design pots, Two Flew the Coop chicken coops and All Things Wild native plants.
